I love Friday nights at Hillel because it’s really great way to relax after a busy week with my Hillel family. I also really enjoy events involving food (which is almost all of them) and traditional Jewish cooking. I love being on the Hillel board as it gives me the opportunity to help organize events to enhance our Jewish community on campus.

I became involved in Hillel because I loves the sense of a strong Jewish community. As a member of Hillel, I hope to foster a strong Jewish community at Eastman, providing Jewish students with a safe place where they can go to take a break from school and form more connections. I also hope to strengthen the bond of Jewish students from both campuses, bringing people closer together.
Leeza Katz, Co-President of Eastman
Class of 2019
Major: Vocal Performance, Eastman School of Music
Hometown: Leonia, NJ
Fun Fact: Leeza speaks Russian!
I started going to Hillel because I wanted to be a part of the Jewish community and continue some of my family traditions at school. As I started going to Shabbat dinners at U of R and at The Eastman School, I found that Hillel is a place where I, and all of my Jewish peers, can go to feel safe and accepted. It is a place where I can connect with other Jewish students, learn more about my religion, eat amazing food, and create a home environment. I hope to make Hillel a second home and a second family for the Eastman and University of Rochester students.
