Shabbat & Holidays

After a long week of study and work, Shabbat offers students the chance to relax and enjoy time with friends. At the    U of R, Friday night is the time that Jewish students come together. The evening begins with services led by students.  Twice a month Hillel offers free Shabbat dinners, prepared by students in our Kosher kitchen in the Interfaith Chapel.  On the Shabbats when there is no dinner, there are services followed by Kiddush with challah and snacks, usually based on a theme selected by the students.  Past kiddush programs have included chili Shabbat, fondue Shabbat, and Juggler's Shabbat.

In addition to Shabbat, holidays are an opportunity to come together as a U of R Jewish community to celebrate in a uniquely Rochester experience.
